Sunday OOTD: Self Care & Finals Preparation

12/11/16

Written By: Desiree Dossen

Good evening lovely people. Today I woke up thinking where did my weekend go. I have so much work to accomplish and so little time. You're probably thinking well, why are you blogging instead of studying right now. Well I'm going to get to that after I complete this post that is very necessary. I created a little color blocking story today with my outfit. I'm obsessed with. A little backstory on this look, ever since I was a little girl, I disliked the color pink. I only dislike it because it was too girly and that I am not. I am feminine but girly is like, "Omg where's my lip gloss, shades on, and handbag on your wrist, nails done 24/7, I can't lift that box it's for a man to do blah blah blah blah !"  I love to work, get dirty, and do things knowing that is not only for a man to do. It's weird how some colors have a psycological attachment to it. Nature vs. Nurture. It's like Billy can't wear pink because it's for Suzie and Suzie can't dirty her pink dress only Billy can. In which I don't like. I believe in equality and even when it comes to colors.

Moving forward, today I woke up to complete the hw that was still on my screen from two nights ago and I completed one chapter. Fantastic right. I still have a paper to write, and another chapter to get done. Wish me luck. In order to keep my spirits high and to stay on track, I like to get dressed up. Even if I have no destination in mind, I still like to get dressed as if Sally is about to come pick me up for brunch. Well Sally didn't stop by. However, I drove myself to the public library to make DIY lip balms, body scrub, and a headache reliever roll on. A little Aroma Therapy for finals week is necessary.  Smell good, relax your mind and feel good. Anyhow moving on to the look of the day. I am wearing pink and have incorporated pink into my wardrobe  now. I found myself creating color stories and mini collections on my garment rack. It's easier when I have my looks organized and already out together. My Visual Merchandising skills coming back. Awww apart of me misses merchandising, just not for a company. Enjoy the look below. Comment. Check Out my Pinterest for more on my color stories. Excuse my bare face, these images are unfiltered and I'm exposing my flawed face. In which is #Flawless.

Oh yeah this hair is still alive and well on my head. Ready to get a new color and look for Christmas. With that being said follow my snapchat: Neferdede. You can see how I barely brush this hair. Brushing and combing takes too much work. A Caucasian family today was passing by me when they started to laugh. I look at them confused at what was going on. The one son started to gesture, shaping out my hair. As the mother and the other child started to laugh. Dear White People, my hair is not a laughing stock. I don't have loose threadlike spaghetti hair, there for instead of you laughing you should be ashamed of why your hair is not growing out thick. To the mother, raise your children to have respect for other cultures hair. I'm not going around laugh at Sally for her thin angel hair. I love my natural look and this is why many black or women of color rather perm than keep their natural hair. They revert to weaves instead of keeping up with their thick God given crown. It's sad. It may have been something stupid to get upset over but this is the second time I was made fun of with this hair. The first time it was a black make crossing the street who shouted I was ugly. But that's another topic I don't want to get into. Self Love is key. Black women love yourself and understand that health is wealth.

To my college peers, remain positive and go in ready to attack even if you don't have a clue what's going on the final. Pray and give it up to God for him to guide your pens and pencils. Allow him to instill the wisdom and knowledge needed to ACE your test. God Bless.
