Seasons greetings family, where have I been these last two years? Well, I gave birth to two babies. In June of 2021, I gave birth to my baby boy the day after I graduated college. Life has been amazing navigating motherhood but also ghetto because being a mother is no joke. I am blessed to say that I can laugh about this now but “whew chileeee” I entered into a new phase in life where I learned so much about myself.
I was able to complete my Bachelor of Science degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in January 2021. We had two graduations being that we were still in a pandemic. I had a virtual graduation in May of 2021 and following that, we were able to walk across the stage on June 3rd, 2021. Yes, I walked the stage, more like waddled across being that I was very much pregnant at the time. I ensured I was walking the stage because I did not struggle to get a degree only to graduate virtually. However, I ended up giving birth the next day at 1:40 pm. My child basically said you closed one chapter of your life, now it is my time to shine.
That same year I launched my business House Of Destinē which was my first baby. My Faith, Fashion, and Footwear boutique was conceived in November 2019 but it took me two years to launch being that I wanted it to be perfect. Although my shop is on pause now, I am working on a better marketing and branding strategy to bring it back to life. New designs, and better quality. Even if it takes me another two years to relaunch, I wholeheartedly want it to be quality over quantity.
As many of you know every birthday I do a photoshoot. Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to do a maternity shoot, therefore I took my very much infant at the time with me to do a photoshoot. This post on Instagram is where I welcomed him into the world. My immediate family knew how much I wanted to keep it a secret from those I was not close with. I am happy they respected my wishes. I posted my baby shower and gender reveal content a year later, being that I was not ready for the world to be involved in such intimate moments. 2021 was a year full of blessings for my family and me. My oldest sister got married and I was a bridesmaid at her wedding. I graduated college as the first college graduate in my family, I launched my e-commerce business and gave birth. Surprisingly enough I landed a Customer Service job at Louis Vuitton, but I went to work too soon because my baby was only 2 months, I ended up leaving that role and have chosen the life of a mompreneur since then. It has not been an easy road, but I am honestly grateful to God. Because of God, I am at peace with my life even when it may not be going my way. I am certain it will only get better.
