Is Jayden Smith Breaking Barriers Or What ?

It was brought to my attention by a good friend about Jayden Smith's latest feature in the luxury brand known as Louis Vuitton SS/16' advertisement. I didn't understand what the big deal was about him being featured in a luxury brand's ad. Until I looked closely and noticed it was the women's wear collection that was being showcased. Off the bat I stated this was a positive project and I commend Jayden Smith's bold move. Let me just say the Smith's are too cool for school. They are a family full of intelligent, stylish, edgy, non-conformant individuals. They have raised their children in a manner I most definitely respect. Willow and Jayden Smith are futurists, they look ahead. They don't focus on what everybody else is doing. They create their own platforms, and outlets. However our society does not let them live. For obvious reasons the children are in the limelight. They are talented and very mature. They have an intellect greater than adults I know in which I admire. Two thumbs up on this AD. I support it all the way. Great job to the art director of the brand who has in my eyes made room for debate. The best and interesting part about fashion. Is when you stir the pot and cook up something tasteful, ahhh marvelous. Job well done Nicolas Ghesquiere !

If it were a woman in a menswear campaign/ad she would be offered the title "masculine chic." Yet, "Serving Androgynous Vibes." In my opinion I believe this art direction for the brand showcasing individualism within the ad was genius. Brands are often called out for sexualizing their campaigns. In addition to only telling a story of a heterosexual couple. Nothing outside of the box. Yet this is considered out of bounds ! Yes it sure is way out of bounds on so many positive levels. I love it ! Main stream society would prefer a male with a lean build, exposing abs and topless. Rather than a futuristic young boy who wants to prove to society there are no limitations in fashion.

Despite the obvious that Jayden Smith is a male, he is serving style with confidence in this ad. The ad is to represent luxury and bring the pieces to life while making statements. It is clear that there were BOLD STATEMENTS made in this Spring/Summer 2016 Louis Vuitton campaign. People who are not for this ad are focused on negative ideas that has nothing to do with the garments displayed. I believe Jayden Smith to be very modelesque and he is extremely charismatic. That is what makes this advertisement special.

What really is the message here?

The purpose is for us to keep an open mind when into things La Mode.

One thing I dislike is when society creates these imaginary rules for fashion. People take their own insecurities to bring forth rules. There are no rules in fashion what so ever. WE are here to create, stand out from the rest, and leave a stain that others will remember. Creative Director for Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquiere has brought solely a vision to life. Allowing the pieces to speak for themselves.

In our society, those into fashion and those out of it will always have that "Double Standard." I've noticed only those into the mainstream world or those who have an issue with men being Queer have an issue. Embrace who you are. This is about self-expression. Being free ! Many of those in Europe will more likely be willing to accept this ad than individuals in the USA. I'm not sure why Americans are set on having a "masculine," old-fashion outlook on everything. Yet it's 2016 and there is change that is being made.

As my friend shows me the post on Instagram's popular account for Pop culture News, "Baller Alert," I witness the ridiculous comments and remarks underneath the post. Many of which came from an ignorant mindset. A mindset that is not open to standards outside of the norm.

Jayden Smith is playing his rightful position as a "Misfit." He's breaking the rules. Breaking barriers, eliminating the standards. Unlocking the culture code and negative social construct. He is a very wise Rebel !

Fashion has no gender, sexe, color, race, age or size. This is not a game where rules apply and everyone must follow a strict code. Fashion is art. Fashion is creating a message to gain change as a result.

This Ad screams all of the basic cliches we know in our "basic, narrow" society.

Be Yourself.

Be A Leader Not A Follower.

Break The Internet.

Be A Head Turner. (As You Break Necks)
