The Yeezy Season 4 Casting Uproar

On Saturday September 3, 2016

A tweet by Mr. West himself goes up!

That had over 14,000 reteets and comments that 4 days later people are still getting hyped over. His Pablo World Tour was yesterday the 6th at Madison Square Garden. Today September 7th 2016 day one of NYFW the Yeezy Season 4 Collecton Was Realeased.

rewinding back to 4 days earlier...

A relaxing Saturday evening my sister says let's go to Yeezy's casting call in NYC tomorrow. I'm like no way let's be adventurous and do it. Mind you we aren't models. However we do love fashion and we are curious beings that are all about experiences. Reading his post on twitter I point out two things that excite me. 1.  He only wants to cast women. 2. No Makeup Love. Love. Love. Me being the womanist I am was all for it.

Hence the RED FLAG ! Or Not

"Multiracial"- I had to read that part again and make sure I understood the definition. Multi meaning more than one. So more than one race of women is invited. Or was he looking for only mixed women. There are bi-racial and multiracial women out there so I was confused.

FOR COLORED GIRLS is what I thought

My sister tells me to not think too much of it and let's just go see what he is talking about. I was certain he meant All Races of women are welcome meaning all shades and backgrounds. But his choice of words were so off.  Moving along, we arranged and made our plans for the next morning and I was excited to go REPRESENT!

MY GOAL FOR THE CASTING- 1.) Represent for natural curves 2.) Represent for Liberian women 3.) In addition to representing for any curvy, Liberian girl who is not a sample size two. I wanted to represent for girls who aren't a height of 5'8 and above. My motive was yess let's break barriers and the Yeezy show is a great way to do it.

We planned to wake up at 6am and take that hour drive into the city. We knew the line was going to be outrageous. Nonetheless Sunday morning arrives. It's 9am and I'm still in bed. Half asleep, my sister screams for me to wake up, I mumble Yeezy is gong to have to wait. I need another hour to sleep. Eventually I got up and try to decipher what to wear.

Fast forward we reach New York by 12:40pm. Upon arriving to the venue I'm anxious and curious to see what all of the hype is about. We drive into a line that would wrap around one building and two blocks. Ummmmmm.... okay I'm now laughing to myself but my sister is angry with me. Being that I have poor time management skills and she was up on time for us to head out. Finding an okay parking spot we get out to what would be a nightmare. As I'm walking I hear my name being called. I'm like who knows me in these New York streets lol. I'm not from New York and not popular so who could this be. Turning around I see the lovely BrittanyJosephina and my social media sister NappyIjeoma aka NappyStylist. Ugh relieved to see familiar faces I was too hyped now. I scan the line and all I see is beautiful women of all types. Petite, tall, curve, light, brown, chocolate, tatted, conservative, creative.. it was like if we needed to do a Black Girl Magik meet up right then and there it would be so lit. There were many ethnicitities of women on line and brown/dark skinned women were representing. Therefore the whole multiracial confusion did mean all races. Not just a mixed race female.

While we stood online from 12:49-4:00pm in hopes of making it to the door I was happy to be surrounded by bold expressive women of color.! 3rd point I forgot to add was that the post stated to "come as you are." I love how Kanye enjoys the youth's creativity. No need to conform. You are who you are, just be yourself. Online I was frustrated about the amount of ignorance that I heard behind me. Girls bashing other girls and just fame hungry individuals. Where as in front of me stood two glorious curvaceous melanin goddesses . One with an Africa tat and the other girl had a tattoo which stated C'est La Vie or Sieze The Day. I can't remember actually what her tat said. All I know is that the amount of beauty gathered on that block that day was amazing.

After seeing clips and snippets of his presentation today, I'm like where are the curvy females? Did Kanye only want multiracial petite women? Or is it because my size 14 wouldn't be able to fit the Yeezy Sample Size ? My biggest issue with the fashion industry.

Overall that who experience was a waste of time and a learning one. My sister wants to return next year. In hopes that we wake up earlier. Well even if we go next year what will be different? His concept for his collection are repetitive and boring.
