Liberian Designer Telfar Clemens CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Finalist
Better late than never. Happy Belated 26th to all of my fellow Liberians out there. Our great land of Liberty has reached 170 years of freedom. Today I will shed light on a global fashion designer by the name of Telfar Clemens. He was born in Liberia but raised in the big Apple New York. I have decided to speak about his immense amount of representation not only in the fashion industry but for us eclectic Liberians who aren't afraid to express their alternative ideas. As a designer he showcases gender fluidity throughout his collections. I have adored his collections since discovering him back in 2015. As my motto is "Serving Style Through Representation," Telfar does more than just serve style. He spreads awareness and narrates powerful messages. His ability to find a balace and duality though innovative designs and concepts is extremely thrilling. With fashion week right around the corner it is only right to dedicate this #MaleMuseMonday post to Telfar. He has been under the radar for a while and his work has been displayed on Style Connoisseurs such as Solange, Kelela, and Tinashe. All women with a great sense of edge, mystery, and eclectic style.
The main reason why I am obsessed with Telfar's pieces is because he is not for everybody but his designs are for everybody. If you know than you know. Past and present collections of the Telfar Clemens brand are not mutually exclusive to one gender. Instead this line is a unisex, non-conformant, breaking rules, turning heads kind of apparel movement. All in all I am pleased to share Telfar with you all and I hope our fellow Liberians, support rather than throw shade or hate on this mans luxury brand. I would love to meet Telfar personally and perhaps I can be an intern or volunteer as a dresser for his up and coming collections during fashion week. There are many items I have saved from his line and with that being said enjoy some of the TC runway looks below.

As the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund finalist along with other well respected designers, this would be an amazing way to put Liberia on the map. Yes it is on the map but, in terms of fashion our little country is still growing. We had Korto Momolu on Project runway which was amazing. Yet we are not in competition with other African nations, however one of my goals is to be able to have a solid fashion industry in Liberia to help build up the economy.
This post is relevant to many topics of today. Aside from our homeland's economy. The topic of gender is like taboo when it comes to men and women expressing contrary to our country's traditional standards and values. I am excited Telfar is a finalist, ya'll go and vote for your brother. Support goes a long way. Stay tuned for mor fashion industry news. Thanks for reading up on my Monday Male Muse
