Back to School Vibes

The feeling of back to school is in air. Pumpkin Spice treats are back on the menus of your favorite restaurant(Check your local listings). This time of the year the sun engages us with it's appearance on random days. For example this whole week has been in the 80 to 90 degree range in New Jersey. On the other hand, the air becomes cooler and the kiddies are in the mall shopping with mommy and daddy preparing to go back to school. Fashion week all over the world greets us. Buyers prepare their notes, designers bring their line sheets to life, and sales are made. Fall Internships commence. Financial Aid gives college students are hard time and de-register many before the semester even starts. Final summer vacations end and we welcome the new underclassmen. "Tis The Season To Be Jolly...."
For all of my Stylistas this is where layering and thicker choices of fabrics come to play. Suede, Faux Fur, Leather, and Cable Knits make their way onto garment racks and closet shelves. To slowly put away summer essentials. Unless you're like myself and style summer pieces into Fall as layering pieces. Love Autumn. New collections are making their way to shop floors and placed under the "New Arrivals" tab(for e-commerce sites) and brightening up many spirits with all of the fabulous options.
Early mornings are the times I dislike around this time of year but it's the mood and the vibe that brings back memories; of when I was a kid. Oh how excited we would all get to finally go to school after a long and boring summer. Cool, Crisp, Fresh, Clean air entices you when day breaks. The birds sing songs at your bedroom window, waking you up from a deep slumber. VH1 plays latest hits. You might even decide to blast Soundcloud tracks. Sanitation Trucks, and NJ Transit public transportation travel by sounding obnoxiously loud in the early morning. Last minute school shopping is in full effect because that's how my family operates. I personally enjoyed being at school more than home. To be honest I haven't felt this way in a long time.
Last fall I knew I wasn't going back to school. Therefore I went to work daily in hopes of returning in the Spring 2015. That didn't happen, but now I'm in the mood for school again. Full time student and full time employee. We tell baba God Thanks.Walking FIT grounds for the first time yesterday as an official student after one year felt surreal. You may think one year isn't a long time. However I could've accomplished a whole lot in that one year alone but didn't. Therefore I am grateful to be where I am today. On the train at 8:08am am headed to my first 9:00am class.
It's tough when you want it all at once. That's how I am. I want so many things at once. My mom constantly tells me, "Your wants are many." My boyfriend tells me if you get everything you want now you won't enjoy it later. Even the richest man who gets everything he wants in the present moment will not enjoy it later. That's why I am again Thankful for that long Pause In my life as far as education goes. God knows what he's up to. He knew I wanted school so badly but the timing wasn't right. He knew I had to make smarter decisions and not act out of the flesh but in mind and in spirit. The songwriter writes "Everything now Double, Double..." And I believe it because right now everything is double double. Every down fall is a Victory. The struggles my family and I faced this year of 2015 became stories that I cannot share, even with my closest friends. However, I am thankful to God that he has brought me this far by faith.
The power of my mind could have caused me to do something foolish. But when in spirit you don't allow the flesh or mind to overrule you. Reminder: You control your mind your mind doesn't control you. Struggles are usually tests of Faith. Some individuals don't understand that. God doesn't give us things he knows we cannot handle. He wants to see how strong your faith in him is and how you will persevere if you remain focused on the task at hand. I've learned that God is in you.
How much faith do you have in yourself? How much do you believe you will make it through the stormy weathers and the rain?
Have faith in thyself. Have faith in all you can do. All things are possible through Christ who gives me strength. Find the strength within yourself to get up and get moving. Get up and go out to get what your heart desires.! Everyone have a safe, healthy, productive semester. Work smart not hard.
Be wise. Stay humble. Stay True.
